Autumn Boost For First Time Buyers
Tue 5 Dec 2017
Great news for First Time Buyers.
If you are a first-time buyers you will pay zero stamp duty on the first £300,000 of any home that costs up to £500,000 with immediate effect, the Chancellor announced in today’s Autumn Budget. This means on a home worth less than £300,000, you’ll pay no stamp duty.
The Treasury estimates the move, which has applied from 12.01am today, will take 80% of first-time buyers out of paying stamp duty altogether. We’ve worked out it’ll save the average first-time buyer purchasing a £210,000 property some £1,640 in stamp duty.
